Answers about OPP Collision Reporting Centre

LAST VERIFIED OCT 6, 2026

When should I call 911 instead of going to the centre?

[ VERIFIED · OCT 2026 ]

Call 911 if anyone was injured and taken to hospital, or if there is any evidence of criminal activity. The centre handles self-reporting for collisions where everyone can drive in.

What should I do before I head to the centre?

[ VERIFIED · OCT 2026 ]

Move the vehicles to a safe spot if you can, and record the other driver's licence, insurance, and vehicle details. Note any witnesses and take photos when it is safe to do so.

Is there a damage threshold that requires reporting?

[ VERIFIED · OCT 2026 ]

If the combined damage is over $2,000 you must report the collision to police right away. The reporting centre exists for exactly that self-reporting process.

Can I report online instead of going in person?

[ VERIFIED · OCT 2026 ]

Some reports, like property and traffic reports, can be filed online through Toronto Police. For a collision report, attending a centre in person remains the standard path.
