JC Dance Co

A first-time beginner drop-in costs 10 dollars. Regular drop-in is 35 dollars per class, or about 26 dollars per class with a 12-class package.

Beginner classes run on Mondays from 6:30 PM to 7:25 PM in a 12-class series of 55-minute lessons. You can start on any first class of a dance, with no class on September 21st or October 12th observed holidays.

Classes meet at the Wosk Auditorium inside the Jewish Community Centre at 950 West 41st Avenue near Oak Street. Parking options include a paid lot plus free street parking along Willow and neighbouring streets.

No partner is needed to take part. You can come as a single dancer, bring a partner, or join with a group of friends.

The studio is led by Joel Marasigan and Clara Marasigan, a husband-and-wife team of former ballroom champions. Their teachers are professionally certified by the Canadian DanceSport Federation, and they also offer wedding dance packages and private lessons.

The beginner series works through Waltz, Cha Cha, Tango, Rumba, Social Foxtrot, Quickstep, and Jive. Each dance gets one or two Monday sessions, starting with Waltz in mid-September.

Yes, a Monday evening open practice runs from 8:30 PM to 9:50 PM and is open to all levels. It is free for beginner and intermediate group class students, and drop-in admission is 15 dollars per session.
